The business was then taken over by Peter and Eileen Sheath who operated it for many years , before selling it to Simon and Sarah Butler in 2006.
One of the most distinctive features of this house is the walnut staircase with 57 steps. It was made of black walnut and butternut and has an upward climb of 45 feet to the fourth floor.
On the ground floor, there are a variety of rooms that can be visited. The parlor is among them, an office, and a library with 13-foot ceilings. The library also has the largest painting of Hayes by William Carl Brown.
