(Member Content) Tip #4 of 10 – Facebook Trends

Hashtag

This is part of a 10 minipost series called "10 Tried, Tested, Proven Ways to Make $100K/year Selling T Shirts Online" that will help you become a better t-shirt seller.

Facebook trends are like Google news except even more current.  Take a look at the trends on the homepage and see if you can pick out anything that is t-shirt worthy.  I’ll remind you again… trending things on popular platforms are things that people are doing Google searches for right now.  So if you have a t-shirt on your site that matches the keywords that people are searching for, you’ve got something that is going to drive traffic to your site.  Traffic on your site = sales. Here’s a screenshot:

At a glance I see:

  • A “Nixon for Governor” t-shirt idea.
  • “No Self Driving Cars”
  • “Stop Brexit”

Whatever.  You’re going to see things that I don’t.  But the idea is to match current events with t-shirt titles on your site.  The shirts you come up with might sell. If they don’t, you’ve driven traffic to your site and your long-term sellers will sell.

You can look at Facebook trends every hour and come up with two or three different t-shirt ideas.  And by the way, once you’ve designed your t-shirt and uploaded it to your site… post it on Facebook with a link back to your store.  Someone may like it, share it, and forward it to someone who comes right to your store and buys it. Free advertising!

I’m going to take this opportunity to tell you (if you haven’t heard this from me multiple times already) to keep keywords in mind in your shirt titles.  Let’s say you make a “Stop Brexit” t-shirt. You could title it, “Stop Brexit T Shirt”. Terrible. “Stop Brexit EK EU Transition Deal Political Essential England T Shirt”.  Good! Why? Match the titles of your shirts to the trending current event keywords. Why? To dramatically improve your Google search results and thus drive traffic to your site.  Do this and you’re ahead of 90% of the sellers out there. You’ve just eliminated 90% of your competition.
