What is Dropshipping?
This fantastic method of order fulfillment allows you to sell products without having to handle or store stock. In the t-shirt biz, dropshipping can be described as the purchasing of a t-shirt from a third party who ships it directly to your customer. There are three parties involved in this process: the Customer, the Seller (You), and the Dropshipper (also called the Supplier).
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Customer
The Customer visits your site, finds a shirt they love, and places their order. They pay the retail price, which is marked up from the wholesale price. That's how you and other stores make money.
Step 2: Seller (You)
When the Customer places their order, the Seller forwards that order to the Dropshipper and pays the wholesale price, leaving that order to be fulfilled by the Dropshipper. With my partner Dropshipper, your store will be directly linked to their fulfillment system, so there's no manual work required to forward orders. You can make money while you sleep!
Notice something here: You already have the money in hand when you are ordering the t-shirt for your customer. That is one of the best parts of this business, there is very little financial risk!
Step 3: Dropshipper
The Dropshipper fulfills the t-shirt order and ships it directly to the Customer. It is sent to the Customer without the Seller being involved in the shipping or handling process.
Business Without Inventory!
Using a dropshipping fulfillment company makes it super easy to launch your online t-shirt store because it allows the seller to start up their e-commerce business without investing a large amount of capital to purchase inventory. Dropshipping allows for a wider range of t-shirt designs to be listed on your store because that t-shirt design will only be fulfilled when a customer makes a purchase of that particular design. In other words… you can list *images* of t-shirts for sale on your store and the shirt doesn’t actually get printed and shipped until somebody buys it. No cost of purchasing and stocking inventory!
Owning an online t-shirt store offers the seller flexibility in their location, and this can be further enhanced when using a dropshipper because it allows for products to be sold anywhere. Since the work of shipping and handling is done by the dropshipper, the seller has less of a hassle in ensuring that the product is shipped and does not need to be anywhere near a post-delivery station.
It can be costly to start up a business, but to start a dropshipping-based t-shirt business you can literally get your start up costs down to well under a hundred bucks! Furthermore, you will save on time and money because the heavy lifting is being fulfilled by a third party.
The best part is… assuming your t-shirt designs are converting quickly, this business model will bring immediate profit.
